Custom Kids and Youth BJJ Gear — Manufacturer in Sialkot, Pakistan

The kids and youth segment is the fastest-growing part of most BJJ academies. Parents enrolling their children in BJJ programs want their kids to feel like they belong — wearing the same branded gi as their classmates, looking like part of the team, and feeling the pride of a uniform that carries their academy’s identity.

At Onrox International we manufacture custom kids BJJ gis, youth rashguards, kids grappling shorts, and youth martial arts uniforms from our factory in Sialkot, Pakistan.

Why Kids Gear Needs Different Specifications

Children’s training requirements differ from adults in ways that directly affect gear construction:

Fabric weight: Kids gis should be lighter than adult gis. Heavy adult fabric restricts movement for children who are still developing coordination and strength. We recommend 350–400gsm pearl weave for kids — approximately 100gsm lighter than a typical adult training gi.

Collar construction: Children’s gis should use a softer, more flexible collar than adult competition gis. A stiff rubberized collar designed for adult competition is uncomfortable for young children during training.

Reinforcement: Despite being lighter, kids gis need heavy reinforcement at stress points — knee patches on pants, double-stitched crotch seam, reinforced sleeve connections. Children roll more continuously and with less body awareness than adults — their gear takes more stress per session, not less.

Sizing for growth: Children grow 5–8cm per year on average. A gi ordered slightly large — one size up from current perfect fit — will remain compliant and comfortable for an additional 6–12 months before the child outgrows it.

Sizes: M0 through M4 — see sizing chart for measurements

  • No pockets — prevents finger injury during training

Kids Uniform Programs for Academies

The most successful kids gear programs we see academies run:

Option 1 — Complete Kids Uniform Set Custom gi (M0–M4) + custom rashguard + custom shorts — all in matching academy design. Sold as a complete set to parents at enrollment. Immediate revenue and instant team identity.

Option 2 — Gi Program Only Custom branded gi in academy colors with logo. Simpler to manage, lower cost per student. The starting point for most academies new to custom gear.

Option 3 — Rank Progression Set Kids gi + rashguard in current belt color. On promotion, the student buys the new rank color rashguard. Creates a recurring revenue touchpoint at every promotion and builds excitement around belt ceremonies.

Running a Successful Kids Gear Program

Survey parents before ordering: Send a simple height survey to parents before finalizing your size breakdown. Children vary enormously in size at the same age.

Order slightly large: A gi that fits with 4cm of sleeve allowance will last 12 months. A perfectly fitted gi may be outgrown in 6 months. Parents appreciate value.

Offer a trade-in program: Accept outgrown gis back at a small discount toward the next size. This builds parent loyalty, reduces waste, and gives you a steady reorder cycle.

Start with M1–M3: Most kids programs run primarily 5–11 year olds. M1 through M3 covers this range. Order M0 and M4 in smaller quantities.

Recommended Size Breakdown for Kids Programs

Frequently Asked Questions — Kids BJJ Gear

What size gi does a 7-year-old need? A 7-year-old of average height (115–122cm) typically fits M1 or M2. Measure your child’s height and compare to our sizing chart. When between sizes, order the larger.

What fabric weight is best for kids BJJ gis? 350gsm pearl weave is our recommendation for most kids programs. It is light enough for comfortable training but durable enough for the continuous rolling that children do in class.

Can I order adult and kids gis in the same order? Yes. We regularly produce mixed adult and youth orders for academies outfitting their full membership. Specify adult and youth quantities separately in the quote form.

How often do kids outgrow their gi? Children typically outgrow a fitted gi in 6–12 months. Ordering one size up extends the lifespan to 12–18 months. We recommend building an annual reorder into your academy calendar.

Do kids gis need to be IBJJF compliant? For IBJJF youth competition events, yes. Our M0–M4 gis in white, blue, and black are manufactured to IBJJF youth specifications. For academy training only, any color is acceptable.

Can you make matching adult and kids gis in the same design? Yes. Many academies order adult and youth gis in the same design so the whole school — from the youngest students to the black belts — wears matching branded gear.
